This post is part of the General Conference Odyssey. This week covers the Saturday afternoon session of the October 2008 conference.
Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge gave such a stirring testimony of the Savior that it brought me to tears. I have had sacred experiences of my own such that I can't deny that Jesus Christ lives and loves me. There is no other way to return to our heavenly home except through Jesus.
Jesus Christ is the Way. He is Light and Life, Bread and Water, the Beginning and the End, the Resurrection and the Life, the Savior of the world, the Truth, and the Way.
I'm like the handcart pioneers of old, I have gotten to know the Savior in my extremities. Elder Corbridge says, "The Lord's way is not hard. Life is hard, not the gospel. 'There is opposition in all things', everywhere for everyone. Life is hard for all of us, but life is also simple." "Therefore, while the Lord's invitation to follow Him is the highest of all, it is also achievable by everyone, not because we are able, but because He is, and because He can make us able too."
How else could I go through the pain of labor and childbirth, bankruptcy, a failing marriage, children leaving the covenant path, death of a beloved son, the aches and pains of aging without the strength and succor of my Savior? He has been beside me all the way, even when I was too stressed to feel Him there. I know He was there because when I come out of my stupor of physical or emotional pain I realize He has been with me all the way.
I look forward to the day I can fall at His feet and express my gratitude for His mercy, grace and love.
